Description of Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP Il Denso
The Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP Il Denso from the vinegar manufacturer Casa Mussini in Modena, Emilia Romagna, is a balsamic vinegar made from cooked grape must and wine vinegar. Its color is dark and shiny, with a fruity-sweet and sour taste reminiscent of plums and vanilla.
The abbreviation IGP stands for "Protected Geographical Indication" (Indicazione Geografica Protetta).
The uniqueness of this balsamic vinegar lies in its impressive density, hence the name "Il Denso," which translates to "the Dense." The density results in a thick, syrupy consistency.
The magazine "Der Feinschmecker" awarded this balsamic vinegar from the Mussini house 2nd place in 2021 and again in 2023 among a variety of top products from the Modena region.
This product is part of the range from FoodConnection, a provider specializing in exceptional food for fine dining since 2003, and is now also offered for ambitious home cooks.

About the Manufacturer
The Mussini family has been creating balsamic vinegars for generations. According to family history, it was Guido Mussini, born around 1885, who established the tradition of balsamic vinegar. The first barrels for vinegar aging were purchased in early 1909. Over several decades, Guido and his wife Cesira developed their own knowledge and methods but limited sales to relatives only. The two World Wars initially interrupted further development. After World War II, production could be expanded again.
However, Guido and Cesira's successors chose different career paths, and according to local customs, the vinegar barrels with the aging vinegars among them were divided as inheritance. Only around the turn of the millennium did Giorgio and Gabriele Mussini bring as many as possible back together and founded the present Acetaia Mussini. Meanwhile, Mussini balsamics are sold in many countries.
