ice cream with fruit syrup

Kakigori is the term for a Japanese dessert in the form of shaved ice. For this, a block of ice is clamped into the machine and shaved with the help of a blade into "ice flakes." The original Japanese Kakigōri machine is traditionally operated manually with a crank.

For the flavor, a fruit syrup, sometimes also condensed milk, is poured over the ice flakes.

Shirokuma is a special type of Kakigōri, to which mochi, fruits, and sweet bean pastes are added.

Preparation:

  • Use a Kakigori machine to make shaved ice and put it into a bowl.
  • Mix Mikan mandarin juice with sugar, according to the desired level of sweetness. Optionally, add a few splashes of Yuzu juice.
  • Pour Mikan syrup over the shaved ice.
  • Decorate with crispy elements, fruits, mochi, etc.
